Newsies was said to be "the flop of the 90's"
But seriously, if anyone said that a Newsies fan's face, they would have
a huge cult to answer to, disagreeing.
So what if critics didn't like it? I know of thousands that do.
The Plot:
The musical Newsies is about a group
of orphans and runaways called the Newsies who "bring you the news for a penny a pape" in 1899, the year of the legendary
newsies strike. Jack Kelly is a 17 year old Newsie running from his past with no future until Joseph Pulitzer of
the New York World raised the price of the papers, giving Jack something to fight about. Along with the help of his Newsie
friends, and new friends along the way, Jack and the Newsies join together to go on strike and stop Pulitzer's price increase.
My Thoughts:
This could go on forever, but i'm going
to keep it short and sweet. If you want a new obsession, watch Newsies. I swear you will not be sorry. The songs are great
and I mean come on, in the first scene you see hot guys with they're shirts off. Who couldn't love that? The plot is good,
the characters are great, and the actors and talent is phenominal. If you haven't seen it yet, your missing out on a lot!
Marty Belafsky's Thoughts:
"If you're a girl, it's the most awesome
musical EVER set in 1899 about newsboys who go on strike and it has cute guys dressed in cool outfits singing fun
songs and dancing.
If you're a straight guy it's a fruity-ass musical and most of you
wouldn't be caught dead watching this gay crap.
If you're a gay guy, it's the most awesome Disney musical EVER set
in 1899 about newsboys who go on strike and it has cute guys dressed in cool clothes singing fun songs and dancing."
